On the Road with JHU: Chiles: The Spice of Life

Sponsored by Hopkins Alumni

Red or Green? That’s the New Mexico State Question and the state vegetable, here in the Land of Enchantment. Join Chefs Lois Ellen Frank, Ph.D. and Chef Walter Whitewater from Red Mesa Cuisine in Santa Fe, New Mexico on a fun and delicious journey into the world of red and green chiles. Learn about the rich cultural heritage of both the red and green chile, learn about the chile’s ancestral past and history, learn about the health benefits chile provide, as well as learn how to handle and cook chiles. Cook along with both chefs and learn how to prepare a delicious New Mexico red chile sauce from pods and a traditional green chile sauce that can be used for a multitude of distinct Southwestern dishes. This is going to be a fun and delicious class that is not to be missed!

Upon registering for the class, we'll provide some suggestions on where you can purchase chiles locally and how to source them directly from New Mexico. Space is limited so please register early to secure your spot!
