Offered as part of the Fall 2025 Odyssey Alumni Academy - courses exclusively for alumni and taught by esteemed members of our alumni community and faculty.

The Johns Hopkins Alumni Association and Integrative Learning & Life Design are working together  to bring alumni the clarity and confidence needed to create a fulfilling career in a world of rapid change and workplace uncertainty. The Alumni Life Design Experience (ALDE) empowers you to take charge of your professional path. This interactive, cohort-based course blends design thinking with career clarity—helping you identify your strengths, articulate your skills, and build a values-aligned roadmap for what's next.

You'll gain practical tools to move forward confidently, including how to leverage AI in your career development, enhance your professional storytelling, and set realistic goals with the support of a vibrant alumni network. Whether you're exploring a new direction, reentering the workforce, or seeking greater fulfillment, ALDE offers the structure, connection, and insight you need.

ALDE meets virtually 2x per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (5 Weeks / 10 sessions)

Participants who register before October 6, 2025 will receive a hard copy of the ALDE guidebook with exercises and prompts to use during the five-week experience. Digital .pdf copies will also be available.

Refund Policy (Alumni Life Design Experience Course Only)

100% refund- Prior to the start of the course.

50% refund- During the first week of the course.

No refunds will be given after the first week.

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within (5) business days.

ABOUT Tessa McKenzie
ALDE Co-Instructor | Associate Director of Hopkins Connect

Tessa W. McKenzie, certified as a Designing Your Life Coach and as Career Coach by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), serves in the role of Associate Director, Hopkins Connect (under Development and Alumni Relations and Integrative Learning and Life Design) after over 15 of experience in training, nonprofit capacity building, and branding. Tessa served as a Life Design Educator with Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Sciences as well as for students with disabilities and international students for seven years. Prior to coaching, Tessa was Public Education Officer at the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) and served in numerous capacities, including as an AmeriCorps volunteer, regarding outreach and immigrant advocacy.

Tessa is a survivor of Autoimmune Encephalitis (AE -swelling of the brain). Serving as Chief Resilience Officer of at the International Autoimmune Encephalitis Society (IAES), Tessa promotes disease awareness and support AE warriors through "resilience" and mentorship education.
