An Evening of Jazz & Legacy: Ravi Coltrane at Blue Note, New York

BlueNoteJazzClub

Sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association Odyssey program and the Arts, Entertainment and Media Industry Group

Step into the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club for a night of music, history, and soul! Experience the mesmerizing sounds of Ravi Coltrane, son of John & Alice Coltrane, Grammy-nominated saxophonist, bandleader, and composer, as he takes the stage for an unforgettable performance. The evening is hosted by Debra Khan-Bey, Peabody Preparatory '91 and Odyssey instructor, who explores the life and music of Nina Simone —a legend who once performed at the Blue Note herself — her deep connection to New York and her friendship with jazz pioneer John Coltrane, offering a deeper historical perspective to the night’s performance.

Your ticket includes a pre-show dinner and cocktail (or beverage of your choice). Doors open at 6 PM—please arrive no later than 7 PM to enjoy your meal before the show begins. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate jazz legends past and present in one of the most iconic venues in the world!

A portion of this registration fee will serve as a donation in support of future programming and events. If you wish to not have a portion of your registration support such initiatives, you may contact the Office of Annual Giving: oag@jhu.edu
