Sponsored by The Colorectal Cancer Center of Research Excellence at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer CenterJoin the Johns Hopkins University community for a unique, interdisciplinary evening focused on the intersection of storytelling, healthcare, and innovation. This special event features a screening of the critically acclaimed film, Andre is an Idiot, winner of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award. The film tells the powerful, often humorous story of an irreverent man who receives a terminal colon cancer diagnosis after avoiding routine preventive care. It follows his unexpected journey as he determines to maintain his humor while navigating mortality and "learning to die happily." The narrative serves as a compelling and relatable exploration of preventive medicine, personal responsibility, and the human condition. In conjunction with National Colorectal Awareness Month in March, this event will support a critical mission of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, which is to increase awareness of the staggering increase of early onset colorectal cancer and the importance of early cancer detection through colonoscopies. The screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion and networking reception.
