Veronica Halloway is a seasoned Public Health Consultant & Executive Director for the National Association of State Offices of Minority Health (NASOMH), with over 20 years of experience leading multiple state and national initiatives addressing minority health and health disparities. Her leadership skills have been instrumental in the success of these initiatives. While working at the state level, she led a team that oversaw the administration of more than $25M in state and federal funds for racial and ethnic minorities and underserved communities in Illinois. Her extensive program management skills and public health leadership experience have allowed her to cultivate and lead complex health equity initiatives, teams, and partnerships locally and nationally. She is the recipient of numerous state and national recognitions for innovation, community engagement, and leadership in public health. Projects such as Brothers and Sisters United Against HIV & AIDS (BASUAH), HIV Testing and Locator App, Statewide COVID-19 Community Testing and Vaccination pods, and the Community Revitalization Initiative - Activating Relationships in Illinois for Systemic Equity (ARISE) are among her signature accomplishments while at the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Currently, Veronica oversees the daily operations of NASOMH, a national leader, partner, and advocate for policies, programs, and services that improve the health and well-being of racial/ethnic minorities, tribal nations, and underserved populations. NASOMH membership spans all 50 states. She also serves as a site visitor for the Council on Education for Public Health, an accrediting body for schools of public health and public health programs.
