Course Description: Explore how today’s legal systems are shaping—and reacting to—emerging technologies. This course looks at the evolving relationship between tech and the courts through real-world case studies, covering topics from AI to antitrust and social media. Led by a Microsoft product manager and an NYU Law graduate, discussions will bridge tech and law while inviting your own insights and experiences.

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies 

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here.

Withdrawals & Refunds:

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).

  • 100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
  • No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.

For single-session courses:
100% refundable within two (2) business days of the event.

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within five (5) business days.

ABOUT Lucy Arbor, A&S '20
Odyssey Instructor

Lucia (Lucy) Arbor is a Brewer Storefront Fellow in the New York office of Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors. Ms. Arbor obtained her Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law in 2025. Prior to joining the Brewer firm, she was an adjunct professor at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, where she designed and taught a senior capstone course in civics. While in law school, Ms. Arbor was a co-president and teacher in the NYU High School Law Institute, which offers area high school students classes in constitutional law, criminal law, and speech and debate. Before law school, she spent time as a research analyst for the Climate Board in Washington, DC. Ms. Arbor received her bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2020. In her free time, she is currently writing a constitutional law textbook with JHU Professor Emeritus Bruce W. Hamilton.

ABOUT Nancy Wang
Odyssey Instructor

Nancy is a Product Manager at Microsoft with over five years of experience building and scaling productivity tools used by millions. Nancy specializes in creating intuitive, AI-powered solutions that streamline collaboration and empower teams to work smarter. In her role, she leads the strategy and development for Microsoft Planner, where she plays a key role in launching a unified work management experience across the web and Microsoft Teams. 

Her work continues to shape how users manage projects and achieve their goals with greater ease and efficiency. In her previous role, Nancy drove product innovation on Microsoft Excel, delivering impactful features for one of the most widely used productivity tools in the world. Beyond her work at Microsoft, Nancy mentors aspiring product managers and shares insights on product strategy and career growth at events including Product Festival, Harvard, and Johns Hopkins University. She writes on building technology for low income Americans at Techonomic Mobility.
