Dr. Amir Zamani graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with distinction in both biological sciences (B.S.) and economics (B.A.) and earned his M.D. from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. Prior to entering the private sector, he completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

Transitioning his medical expertise into strategic leadership, Dr. Amir served as a partner at McKinsey & Company as a leader in the firm's life sciences practice, directing engagements across R&D, business development, commercial growth, and general strategy for biopharmaceutical and medical device companies.

His remarkable career highlights include:

  • Serving as a partner at Bain Capital Life Sciences (BCLS), leading investments in biopharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostics companies, and acting as a board observer at Rivus Pharmaceuticals and JenaValve.
  • Serving as a board director at Kailera Therapeutics (NASDAQ: KLRA), Aiolos Bio (acquired by GSK), and ViaCyte (acquired by Vertex), and as a board observer at Alkeus Pharmaceuticals and Amylyx Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: AMLX).
  • Co-leading BCLS’ investments in Amunix Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Sanofi), Atsena, EyeBio (acquired by Merck), CereVasc, and Thrive Earlier Detection (acquired by Exact Sciences).

This interactive session offers learners a unique opportunity to hear Dr. Zamani’s insights, ask questions, and learn from his extraordinary career journey spanning clinical medicine, strategic consulting, and life sciences investment.
