Join the Sheridan Libraries & University Museums as we celebrate the opening of Dreams of Scholarship: 150 Years of Discovery, an exhibition that explores Johns Hopkins University’s past, present, and future through the lens of its libraries as part of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration.
Founded on a bold vision of deep study and imaginative thinking, Hopkins has long been a place where dreams of scholarship spark new ideas and the tenacity to test them. Drawing on rare books, photographs, archival documents, scientific findings, artifacts, and digital collections, the exhibition traces the evolution of the university’s libraries and their enduring impact on teaching, research, and student discovery. It also highlights the vital contributions of the faculty, students, staff, and supporters whose work has expanded access to knowledge and shaped the future of inquiry at Hopkins.
This opening celebration also commemorates the 95th anniversary of the Friends of the Libraries, whose longstanding commitment has helped steward and strengthen the university’s library collections for generations of Hopkins students and faculty.

Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. for check‑in, with seating available on a first‑come, first‑served basis. The program will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and will last roughly one hour.
