Fall Connection Series: Coffee Conversations in Baltimore Header Image

Join your fellow alumni leaders, Smitha Prabhu Mahesh, A&S '21, and Xin(Cindy) Wang, A&S '06 for an informal meetup at Adee's Coffee and begin your day with a favorite cup of caffeine and meaningful conversations. Whether you enjoy trying out local coffee offerings, reconnecting with familiar faces or building new connections, this is a perfect way to kick off your weekend. All alums and friends are welcome.

Inter-Asian Alumni Alliance network aims to facilitate deeper connections, conversations as well as resource-sharing among Hopkins alums from different walks of life and foster stronger sense of community and belonging through small but frequent local gatherings. 

One specialty coffee and one pastry/breakfast item are included in the registration fee!

Please note that this is a small intimate gathering, and we will have a couple of tables reserved for the group; seats are limited to one guest per alum. If you have any questions, please reach out to srai10@jhu.edu

A portion of this registration fee will serve as a donation in support of future programming and events.  If you wish to not have a portion of your registration support such initiatives, you may contact the Office of Annual Giving: oag@jhu.edu     

While participating in off-campus events and meetings sponsored by the JHAA/JHM/JHHS participants must follow all public health guidelines mandated by the local jurisdiction and venue at the time of the event. Johns Hopkins strongly suggests that attendees who join in person receive at least one dose of an FDA- or WHO-authorized COVID-19 vaccine before attending This is subject to change.

ABOUT Smitha Prabhu Mahesh
A&S '21

Smitha "Prabhu" Mahesh is a graduate of the Class of 2021 at Johns Hopkins University. She graduated with a B.A. Philosophy and a Minor in Bioethics. While at Johns Hopkins, Smitha worked with community organizations in Baltimore City including the Baltimore City Health Department, International Rescue Committee, and Baltimore Harm Reduction Coalition. While on campus, Smitha worked closely with the Voices of Color Committee as well as collaborating with students on community issues through the Inter-Asian Council at JHU. Currently, she is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), specializing in Health Policy. Her education and work experience inspires her research interest in harm reduction, maternal and child health policy, and public policy. Smitha works as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Hilltop Institute to advance aging and disability policy through mixed-method research and analysis. 

ABOUT Xin (Cindy) Wang
A&S '06

Xin (Cindy) Wang is a Class of 2006 graduate of Johns Hopkins University. She double-majored in Neuroscience and the History of Science, Medicine, & Technology. As an undergraduate, Cindy also worked at the Carnegie Institution of Washington and spent a semester abroad in the United Kingdom.

Currently, Cindy is the Strategic Operations Manager at a Baltimore-area industrial manufacturing company, specializing in leveraging international resources and in working with other manufacturers.

Since 2017, Cindy has also been the Chair of the Baltimore-Xiamen Sister City Committee, a member of the all-volunteer nonprofit organization Baltimore Sister Cities, Inc. which aims to promote mutual economic development, educational, cultural, health / environmental and other cooperation and exchanges between the City of Baltimore and its international sister cities.

Cindy is one of the founding members of Johns Hopkins’ new Inter-Asian Alumni Alliance Committee.
