Course Description: Based on Paul Jan Zdunek’s transformative journey from child entrepreneur to orchestra conductor to executive leader, this course offers a dynamic exploration into building a meaningful and resilient career by embracing the non-linear. Through personal storytelling, guided exercises, and practical tools drawn from his book, participants will uncover how to identify their unique path, leverage personal challenges, and turn dreams into strategic action.

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies 

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here.

Withdrawals & Refunds:

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).

  • 100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
  • No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.

For single-session courses:
100% refundable within two (2) business days of the event.

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within five (5) business days.

ABOUT Paul Jan Zdunek
Conductor turned CEO with over 20 years' experience transforming organizations

After a decade-long career as an orchestra conductor, Paul Jan Zdunek brings over 20 years of C-Suite experience providing business leadership and advisory services for both for profit companies and charitable organizations. He has been a business transformation advisor, change management leader and interim executive for institutions requiring financial or organizational revitalization. Paul is often engaged by organizations needing transformational services to address financial decline, organizational inefficiencies, human capital challenges and leadership conflicts.

Paul’s expertise includes organizational & leadership development, change management, conflict and crisis resolution, complex facilitation, personal & professional coaching, philanthropic strategy, as well as stakeholder management.

Paul is a PROSCI® Certified Change Management Professional and Certified Exit Planning Advisor, CEPA®. He has taught at the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, as well as within the graduate Arts Administration program at Goucher College in Maryland, and continues to deliver keynote speeches at industry conferences and executive retreats, including Vistage Worldwide, on the topics of organizational transformation and sustainable success. Currently, he serves as the Board Chairman for two privately held companies and is the co-author of a book on cultivating GREY LEADERSHIP® titled Cowboys & Conductors: Conversations on Horseman-Humanship.

Paul has a Bachelor of Music in Composition from The Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute, a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from The Cleveland Institute of Music, and an MBA from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
