International Women’s Day Symposium: The Power of Persistence – Women Transforming Cancer Research and Care

""Chaired by Elizabeth Jaffee, MD, this exciting symposium will highlight the critical role women play in driving advancements and innovation in the fight against cancer.

The Power of Persistence - Women Transforming Cancer Research and Care will celebrate women's achievements while empowering attendees to embrace their roles as change-makers and advocates, inspiring the next generation and driving the next wave of transformative breakthroughs in the fight against cancer.

The symposium will offer researchers, trainees, and other guests a unique opportunity to convene in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins while inspiring and motivating the research community to continue pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation in pancreatic cancer research.

Program:

-  2:00 – 3:00 PM: From Scientist to Leadership: Cristina Ferrone, MD, Rosalie Sears, PhD, Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD
 This session will examine the unique challenges facing women in leadership positions and how they endeavor to create and sustain cultures of inclusivity and diversity. Speakers will explore how research excellence paves the way for prominent leadership positions at preeminent institutions and discuss the importance of mentoring and empowering future leaders. 
-  3:00 – 3:30 PM: Lustgarten Foundation Annual Career Development Award Lecture in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg
