Course Description: Investing 101 for Women is a six-week workshop for women who want to learn more about investing. Whether you have never invested before or would like to better understand your investment portfolio, this course is for you. Topics will include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs. Compound interest, asset allocation, risk tolerance, and the importance of annual portfolio rebalancing will also be covered. By the end of the course, students will feel confident in their knowledge to build a performing, low-fee investment portfolio.

Withdrawals & Refunds:

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).

100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.

For single-session courses:
100% refundable within two (2) business days of the event.

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within five (5) business days.

ABOUT Nanci Murdock
Financial and Investing Literacy Advocate and Coach

Nanci is a financial and investing literacy advocate and coach. Since 2015, she has taught workshops (primarily to women) on asset allocation, risk tolerance, stocks vs. bonds, mutual funds and ETFs, portfolio construction, and rebalancing. She has a warm, friendly teaching style and is proud that her workshops are a safe place for women to learn about investing.

Nanci has enjoyed over 30 years in the financial industry, with past positions at Merrill Lynch and Scotia McLeod, and most recently as Head of Marketing for BCA Research, the world's largest provider of independent macroeconomic research. Since 2015, she has built a coaching business that includes one-to-one and small group workshops—both virtual and in-person.

Nanci has no affiliation, partnership, or sponsorship relationship with any financial or other organization. She is a CFA Charterholder (2001).
