Course Description: Learn how to get the most out of your iPhone’s camera. Through demos and class assignments, you will learn how to use the iPhone’s native camera app and all of its shooting modes, learn how to organize and share your photos with family and friends, and best practices for transferring your photos between your iOS devices and computer. You’ll also learn photo editing techniques and how to use post-processing apps to bring out the best in your photos. This course is ideal for the casual or more experienced photographer interested in an introduction to iPhone Photography.

*Participants need iPhone 11 or newer/latest version of iOS17

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies  

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here. 

Withdrawals & Refunds: 

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).

  • 100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
  • No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.

For single-session courses:
100% refundable within two (2) business days of the event.

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within five (5) business days.

ABOUT Karen Klinedinst

Karen Klinedinst is an artist using photography to explore themes of place, nature and the human impact on the environment. Using digital, analog and alternative photo processes, she creates landscapes influenced by 19th century Romanticism with 21st century technology.

She has exhibited at the University of Maryland Global College, Center for Photographic Arts, The Center for Fine Art Photography, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts (Maryland), Biggs Museum of American Art, Griffin Museum of Photography, Maine Museum of Photographic Art, and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Her work is in private and public collections including the Liriodendron Mansion, the National Park Service, and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. 

Karen was an artist-in-residence at the Catskills Center for Conservation and Development, a National Park Service artist-in-residence at Acadia National Park, and a 2022 PLAYA artist-in-residence in Summer Lake, Oregon. She is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art.
