Discover the delightfully whimsical world of the Sheridan Libraries’ Edible Books Festival, the annual Johns Hopkins celebration where literary inspiration transforms into imaginative, entirely edible art. Fresh off its 11th edition, the festival welcomes the Hopkins community to reinterpret beloved books through baked creations that are as clever as they are delicious. Festival organizer Heidi Herr, librarian for English, Philosophy, and Special Collections Student Engagement, will share how this much‑loved Homewood campus tradition began and the spirit of creativity and connection it nurtures. She’ll spotlight memorable entries from this year and past festivals and offer a glimpse into how the event continues to grow through new categories and surprise touches that keep the experience lively and welcoming.
As the student engagement librarian for the Winston Tabb Special Collections Research Center, Heidi Herr creates programs and learning activities that engage Johns Hopkins students in conducting research with primary sources. She is also the librarian for English, Philosophy, and the Writing Seminars. Heidi teaches courses on a wide variety of topics, including the ephemera of the women’s suffrage movement and the development of the cookbook, and oversees the Sheridan Libraries’ Freshman Fellows program. She holds MA degrees in English and Library Science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
