Join us for an evening of candid conversation and insights from Johns Hopkins alumni who’ve built careers across film, television, and entertainment. This dynamic, moderated discussion will feature:

  • Elizabeth Goodstein, A&S, '12, VP of Strategy and Content Partnerships, Madison Wells
  • Henry Huang, A&S ’02, partner, Heroes and Villains Entertainment
  • Luke Kelly-Clyne, A&S ’10, head, HartBeat Independent
  • Sofi Selig, A&S ’16, writer

The event will take place at the historic Culver Hotel, a cinematic landmark that has hosted legends of the silver screen for generations. Following the discussion, guests are invited to enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, and continued conversation with fellow attendees including Johns Hopkins University's Film and Media Studies Program faculty Linda DeLibero, Special Advocate for Alumni and Outreach, along with current undergraduate Film and Media Studies students.

ABOUT Luke Kelly-Clyne, (A&S '10)
Producer, Writer, and Director

Luke Kelly-Clyne A&S '10 is a producer, writer, director, and Co-Head of HartBeat’s independent TV & Film Studio, HartBeat Independent, where he oversees and produces a variety of film and TV projects. Before joining HartBeat, Luke served as President at Propagate Content’s comedy studio, Big Breakfast where he was Executive Producer of the company’s slate of scripted and unscripted feature, TV, and digital projects including: MTV Films’ “Out Of Office” and “Cursed Friends” (both of which he also Produced), Discovery+’s Critics Choice Award-nominated “Million Dollar Wheels,” truTV’s “Double Cross with Blake Griffin,” Comedy Central’s “Loafy,” Facebook Watch’s award-winning "I Want My Phone Back," Discovery and MotorTrend’s ”Kevin Hart’s Muscle Car Crew,” and Pop TV's "Hot Date” on which he also served as showrunner. From 2013-2016, Luke ran Native Content at CollegeHumor where he created and ran several of the brand’s most successful digital series. During this time, he was also a Freelance Contributing Writer to Weekend Update on "Saturday Night Live.” He authors the long-running Vulture column, "Funny Videos of the Month," hosts the HeadGum podcast, "I'm Still Right," and is a guest lecturer in the Film and Media Studies department at Johns Hopkins University. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

ABOUT Elizabeth Goodstein, (A&S '12)
Vice President of Business Development & Strategy, Madison Wells Media

Elizabeth is VP of Strategy and Content Partnerships at Madison Wells, Gigi Pritzker’s media company. She leads investments and partnerships aligned with Madison Wells’ mission to empower badass women and people pushing boundaries—spearheading deals like a Series A investment in Lemonada Media (home of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Wiser Than Me) and co-founding + incubating Emmy-Award winner Tan France’s French Tuck Media. Most recently, she put two films into production with 2x Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ben Proudfoot and was named to The Wrap’s Changemakers list. She also helped create a proprietary commercial deal template that led to collaborations with award-winning filmmakers like Nanette Burstein.

Elizabeth has worked across talent, audio, publishing, and Film/TV—optioning Dr. Emily Nagoski’s bestselling tome Come As You Are and producing the Ambie Award-winning podcast with Pushkin in 2022. She also hosts a high-level industry dinner series and runs Madison Wells’ internship program. A Columbia MBA, Elizabeth began her career at ICM (now CAA) and worked for the Head of New York at WME. 

ABOUT Henry Huang, (A&S '02)
Manager, Heroes and Villains Entertainment

Henry Huang is currently a Manager at Heroes And Villains Entertainment. After getting his start at Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and ICM, he was a Literary Manager at Industry Entertainment and Station3. At HVE, he represents a wide range of television and film writers and directors. He also recently produced the feature TURKEY DROP starring Olivia Holt, Cheryl Hines, and Ben Levin.

He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and newborn son.

ABOUT Sofi Selig, (A&S '16)
Writer

Sofi Selig is a writer on Apple TV+’s SHRINKING, which is currently in pre-production for its third season. She’s a 2023 Writers Guild Award Nominee for her work on Shrinking alongside the Season 1 staff. She’s also written on HEAD OF THE CLASS for MAX. Prior to that, Sofi worked for Bill Lawrence, whom she accompanied to London for the writing/filming of TED LASSO. She is featured in conversation with Bill for his BBC Maestro course: “Writing Comedy for Television.” Sofi graduated as a Writing Seminars major from Johns Hopkins University, where she accidentally studied poetry. 

 

ABOUT Linda DeLibero
Senior Lecturer and Special Advocate for Alumni and Outreach in the Film and Media Studies at Johns Hopkins University

Linda DeLibero is the Senior Lecturer and Special Advocate for Alumni and Outreach in the Film and Media Studies program at Johns Hopkins University, where she teaches film history and aesthetics. She was director of the film program from 2001-17 and served as Co-Director of the JHU-MICA Film Centre from 2015-18.  She received an MA in the Writing Seminars at JHU in 1989 and has published on film, media and cultural studies since 1990 in a wide range of publications, including ASAP/Journal, Raritan, Book Forum, The Hopkins Review, The Village Voice, VLS, The Boston Review, In These Times, and Newsday. Her monthly podcasts on film can be heard on Dan Rodericks’ Roughly Speaking, located on the Baltimore Sun website.
