Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies  

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here. 

Withdrawals & Refunds: 

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).

  • 100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
  • No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.

For single-session courses:
100% refundable within two (2) business days of the event.

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within five (5) business days.

ABOUT Sarah Deutschmann

Sarah Crown is a seasoned federal law enforcement professional and military officer with over 20 years of experience. She currently serves as a Special Agent and Chief of Staff at U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Division (IOD). In this role, she oversees the investigation, oversight, and mitigation of workforce- related incidents and threats within CBP.

Prior to this, Sarah served overseas as a Special Agent with the Department of the Air Force's Office of Special Investigations at Royal Air Force Base Mildenhall, England. Her previous experience also includes leading the Operational Field Testing Division within CBP’s Office of Intelligence, where she directed covert assessments of enforcement strategies. Additionally, she was a Branch Chief for the Commissioner’s Briefing Team, coordinating intelligence briefings to keep senior leaders informed of critical developments. 

Earlier in her career, Sarah worked at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a Special Agent and Criminal Investigator, as well as a Policy Analyst. She also completed a fellowship with the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. Subsequent to her time on Capitol Hill, briefed high-level operational and intelligence information to a Cabinet Secretary (DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano), honing her skills in strategic communication and briefing.
 

Sarah holds a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Florida State University. She is also a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves, where she contributes her expertise in intelligence and public affairs. Sarah is passionate about building coalitions and fostering cohesion within teams, and she has presented at various academic and professional forums on topics related to law enforcement, immigration, and international relations.
 

She lives in the National Capital Region with her husband and two children.
