Course Description: For fiction and narrative nonfiction writers: Enhance your draft material with a small group of supportive writers, while reviewing fiction-writing principles and examples. Each 90-minute session combines a brief lecture about plot, character, and/or style with in-class application and sharing of your writing. For homework, focus on the major concept by writing/revising your draft material based on specific prompts. Then upload and share your written excerpt at the group portal for subsequent class discussion. Experience enthusiastic support and feedback in this small-group writing workshop that addresses your specific writing concerns.

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies 
Tuition benefits are available to University faculty, staff, and retirees only. Employees of Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, or the Applied Physics Laboratory should contact your institution’s Human Resources office for information about tuition remission and eligibility:
Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your university eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for each course. Complete eligibility details can be found here.
Withdrawals & Refunds:
If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).
  • 100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
  • No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.
For single-session courses:
100% refundable within two (2) business days of the event.
Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within five (5) business days.
ABOUT Patricia Benesh, Ed ‘75 (CERT), ‘77 Ed.D), ‘80 (MA), ‘83 (MA)

Patricia Benesh, Ed.D is the visionary behind 7Memories.com and AuthorAssist.com, drawing English-speaking writers from around the world. Since 1999, Patricia has helped writers succeed based on their realistic goals and expectations. Among her clients was Thomas Steinbeck (son of John Steinbeck). Her services address fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and obituary writing and include manuscript development, review, editing, coaching and workshops. Her workbooks include From Reluctant Writer to Enlightened Wordsmith, and a trilogy of memoir-writing materials, 7 Memories: How to Write a Memoir in 28 Days; 7 Memories: Partnering to Write a Memoir; 7 Memories: Write Your Awesome Obituary, available at Amazon.com.

She has developed the online program, MemoirMagicTM. Patricia has taught workshops extensively for UC San Diego, Oasis Lifelong Learning (San Diego), and numerous associations, and senior educational programs. A former professor at The Johns Hopkins University, Patricia holds a doctorate from Johns Hopkins. She has spoken at various US and international conferences and is recognized in Who's Who in Education. She has published broadly in books, journals, and business periodicals and has written for the Huffington Post, American Chronicle, Examiner.com, EzineArticles, and Suite101.
