Course Description: In this class, students learn how to build and maintain a sustainable gratitude practice, with tools to build discipline and navigate life's setbacks. Along with Zoom sessions, students will commit to a 30 Day Online Gratitude Course, that they do with a buddy. The goal is to cultivate our practice to the extent that gratitude increasingly becomes part of our regular routine and our personality.

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies  

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here. 

Withdrawals & Refunds: 

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.). 

100% refund- Prior to the start of the course. 

50% refund- During the first week of the course. 

No refunds will be given after the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases. 

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within (5) business days. 

ABOUT Abigail Somma

Abigail Somma (Abbie) is the founder of Gratitude Buddies, a platform that brings people together for a short-term "Gratitude Journey' - 7 or 30 Days. Gratitude Buddies builds meaningful connection while wiring our brains toward greater mental health and wellbeing. 

Abbie has coached and trained hundreds of people in mindfulness, gratitude and emotional wellbeing. In addition to working with numerous individuals, she has delivered workshops to international organizations, businesses, leading universities, and NGOs. She has certifications to teach meditation from both the Nalanda Institute of Contemplative Science (NYC) and Search Inside Yourself (San Francisco), the renown Google-founded program rooted in mindfulness and emotional intelligence. 

On her previous life path, Abbie had a longstanding career in international policy, primarily as a speechwriter, writer and editor. She has worked for the UN, the World Bank, global foundations and think tanks. In her role as a speechwriter, she has written for celebrities, business personalities and multiple international leaders. 

Abbie has a Bachelor's degree from Villanova University and a Master's from Johns Hopkins University. She is also a poet and professionally produced playwright. Her writing has been published in the Globe and Mail, Foreign Policy, Ethics in International Affairs, Scary Mommy and others. You can find more at www.gratitudebuddies.com.
