About Carmina Burana:
Composed between 1935 and 1936, Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata based on 24 medieval poems from the collection of the same name. The piece opens and closes with Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi (“Fortune, Empress of the World”), featuring the powerful and iconic O Fortuna—one of the most recognizable choral works in classical music. Premiered on June 8, 1937, at the Frankfurt Opera, Carmina Burana remains a breathtaking and dynamic masterpiece.
