Wednesday,  6:00PM ET - 8:00PM ET

Virtual via Zoom

Course Description: From bird flu to the dismantling of USAID, global health is everywhere in the headlines—but the real decisions often happen behind closed doors. In this timely course, we’ll unpack how power and politics shape who gets care, whose voices are heard, and what counts as a crisis. Through case studies, guest speakers, and interactive simulations, participants will explore vaccine inequity, pandemic negotiations, and the growing influence of billionaires and NGOs. No background in health is required; just curiosity and a willingness to question the systems meant to keep us safe.

ABOUT Baldeep Dhaliwal

Baldeep Dhaliwal, PhD, MSPH, is a global health researcher, educator, and advocate focused on health systems, labor, and infectious disease ethics. She recently earned her PhD from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of International Health, where she investigated how community health workers navigate systemic power imbalances to deliver care in under resourced settings. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and used to inform vaccine policy and health communication strategies.

She is passionate about making complex public health issues accessible to broader audiences and frequently translates her work into short explainers, op-eds, and social media content.
