Course Description: This advanced course examines the psychology and strategy of negotiation, influence, and power in leadership. Through theory, case studies, and reflective practice, participants will develop emotional intelligence, cross-cultural awareness, and a personal philosophy of power. Each session combines lecture, discussion, and applied exercises to build confidence and skill. Students will leave able to negotiate effectively, communicate with insight, and craft their own “Influence Manifesto” for impactful leadership.

Yikee Adje is a seasoned international affairs professional who has worked for nonprofits, nongovernmental organizations, and the U.S. government domestically and internationally, for two decades, with 16 years spent in Africa, facilitating high-stakes organizational transformations and results-driven foreign assistance programming. Yikee Adje has a proven track record of successfully negotiating multimillion dollar increases to country portfolios and has managed over $1 billion in programming at the United States Agency for International Development before the Agency’s closure. Yikee Adje is an Executive Coach and Master Facilitator passionate about empowering professionals to navigate career transitions, improve their cross-cultural communication, build resilient teams, and achieve work-life balance. She is the author of DIPLOMATICALLY: A Guide for Creating Work-life Balance in the Foreign Service, where she shares her 3 C's (Connection, Communication, and Courage) approach for achieving one's goals in the workplace. She reveals research on “Promotion Unicorns,” the Foreign Service Officers who rose up the ranks the fastest, and captured their lessons learned. Yikee Adje is a wife and mother of five children. She currently lives in Dakar, Senegal, and works for the United States Department of State. Her participation in this program is in her personal capacity, and all views expressed are her own.
