Preeti Raghavan, M.B.B.S., is the Sheikh Khalifa Stroke Institute Endowed Chair and director of the Center of Excellence for Stroke Treatment, Recovery and Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She is an Associate Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Neurology and serves as the Vice Chair for research in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She directs the Motor Recovery Research Laboratory where she investigates recovery of movement and function by understanding the barriers to recovery and improving access to rehabilitation through innovative treatments and advances in systems of care. She has developed medical devices to help train severely affected individuals with stroke, and new drug treatments for muscle stiffness and pain, which are currently in clinical trials. She is committed to translating research findings from the laboratory into real-world therapeutics in the field of Rehabilitation. She led the development of the Johns Hopkins Sheikh Khalifa Stroke Institute Model of Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation, which has won the 2023 Innovations in Clinical Care award, one of the seven honors bestowed annually as part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Awards for Physicians and Care Teams.
