Meet The Speakers:

James Lowry, Senior Advisor, Boston Consulting Group; President, James H. Lowry & Associates

James H. LowryJames H. Lowry is a strategic advisor and nationally recognized workforce and supplier diversity expert. Lowry was the first African American consultant for global consulting firm McKinsey & Company in 1968.

Later, he became the first African American senior partner at the prestigious Boston Consulting Group, where he led the firm’s workforce diversity, ethnic marketing and minority business development consulting practice. Lowry continues to serve as a senior advisor to BCG, while heading his own private consulting firm, James H. Lowry & Associates.

Lowry is the recipient of many iconic awards. Most notably, in 2005, he was elected into the inaugural class of the Minority Business Hall of Fame.

In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Lowry is a teacher, mentor and leader across sectors. Since 1999, Lowry has been an adjunct professor and the academic advisor on minority business development for the National Minority Supplier Development Council as part of the Advanced Management Education Program of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

 

Claudia Bellony-Atanga, Manager of Conference Content, International Economic Development Council

Claudia Bellony-AtangaClaudia Bellony-Atanga, MBA '11, CERP, is a visionary and strategic leader, innovator, and economic development professional. As a first generation Haitian-American, Claudia is an advocate for economic equity, women empowerment, entrepreneurship, with data-driven results.

As the developer of Conference Content at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Claudia creates and builds the robust programming for IEDC’s conferences. Inspired by economic development’s highest thought leaders, Claudia designs conference tracks, collaborates with major stakeholders, and quickly identifies the issues facing economic development today. 

A magna cumme laude graduate of Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Claudia frequently mentors graduate students and collaborates with women-owned and minority-owned businesses as a Hopkins Affinity Leader.

 

Dr. Katrina Caldwell, Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer

Katrina Caldwell, Ph.D joined Johns Hopkins University Dr. Katrina Caldwellas the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) on July 1, 2020. In her role at CDO Dr. Caldwell will serve as the primary steward of the Roadmap on Diversity and Inclusion, align D&I initiatives with university priorities, and coordinate and collaborate with the university’s divisions on D&I matters. Dr. Caldwell will also serve as the ex officio co-chair of the Diversity Leadership Council, alongside Ashley Llorens, Chief of Intelligent Systems Center at the Applied Physics Laboratory and chair of the Diversity Leadership Council.

Dr. Caldwell has more than 26 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with a focus on strategic planning and implementation. Dr. Caldwell holds a Ph.D and master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College. Prior to accepting the role of CDO at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Caldwell served as University of Mississippi’s first vice chancellor for diversity and community engagement beginning for three years, beginning in 2017. As vice chancellor for diversity and community engagement Dr. Caldwell lead University of Mississippi’s efforts to create a diverse and welcoming environment, building an infrastructure to increase community engagement, and targeting high impact areas for transformation.

 

Kevin Frick, Professor and Vice Dean for Education, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School

Kevin FrickKevin Frick is a professor and vice dean for education at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He leads the Carey Office of Education, which includes the registrar’s office and the Office of Institutional Data and Analytics, as well as all aspects of student development and services, advising, financial aid administration, admissions and academic programs, and international collaboration efforts in China.

At Carey, Frick teaches microeconomic foundations for managerial decision-making and health care financing. In addition, he has specialized in linking peer-reviewed research from public health, nursing, and medical journals with the information business leaders need to make decisions about companies that operate in the real-world marketplace.
