Facts Machine LIVE and LIVESTREAMED! Dark Matter, Dark Magic with Noah Guiberson (A&S '15)

Sponsored by the Arts, Entertainment, Media, and Entrepreneurship Affinity

Three scientists who moonlight as pub trivia hosts explore the science behind the séance in this Halloween-themed show featuring folklorist and astrophysicist Dr. Moiya McTier. Gather round the spooky flashlight for stories, games, trivia, and more!

Special ghost, er, guest, Dr. Moiya McTier is an astrophysicist who spent her PhD trying to figure out where the aliens in our galaxy might be. She's also a folklorist who specializes in building and analyzing fictional worlds. Put those sets of expertise together and you get Exolore, Moiya's podcast that focuses on worldbuilding through the lens of facts and science. But Moiya's true passion in life is her cat, Kosmo. And also bread.

This event will take place LIVE in NYC and it will also be livestreamed!

As a lung cancer researcher, Em Costa studies the biological effects of poorly understood gene mutations, and so spends much of her time thinking really hard and pipetting a lot of pink liquids. When she's not doing that (or Facts Machine-ing, of course), you can find her cyanotyping, tending an impractically large windowsill garden, or obsessively Googling birds-of-paradise.

Noah Guiberson (A&S '15) got his start writing and hosting trivia nights in the rugged pub quiz circuits of Baltimore and New York. Aside from recording and editing episodes of Facts Machine, Noah produces SCIENCE 101 at Caveat. A Weill Cornell neuroscientist by day, he seeks to answer the greatest trivia question of them all: How does the brain work?

Dr. Rob Frawley is an alumnus of Weill Cornell Graduate School where he got his PhD in orthopedics and cell biology. A long-time NYC trivia host, Rob now works with BioBus Inc. delivering science to schools all over New York City with a bus full of microscopes, amazing samples, and funny games. Rob spends the rest of his time swimming and waiting for it to be Pi Day.
