Leave No Trace Closing Celebration: Around the Campfire

Join us as we celebrate the closing of Leave No Trace: John Work Garrett in the American Outdoors.

7pm-8pm: The evening will kick off with a performance by Teresa Ferrara interspersed with stories of the West.  Musical selections will include standards such as Edelweiss, Home Sweet Home and more. 

8pm-9pm: Stations will be set up exploring nocturnal natural history topics.  Visitors will also be able to toast marshmallows at our s'mores bar and take one final tour of the Leave No Trace exhibit.

What Flies in the Night: Exploring the World of Nocturnal Wildlife

  Join naturalist, Kerry Wixted, to learn about our wildlife that come alive after dark. During this time, we will:

  ✨ Learn intriguing facts about nocturnal wildlife at our information table.
🦇 Listen for bats in the area using special detectors and uncover amazing bat biology.
🦋 Watch moths, beetles, and other nighttime insects up close as we attract them with lights for identification  

 

Glow-In-The-Dark-Backyard

    Join wildlife biologists, Sarah Witcher and Katy Gorsuch, and explore the glowing world of bioluminescence and biofluorescence.  While we might think of these phenomena as          only occurring in exotic locations, they can be found in our own backyards!
