Let's Talk Taxidermy!

Let's Talk Taxidermy!

From home-goods stores to hip bars, the Tate Modern to the most conservative of decor magazines, taxidermy is everywhere.  And, a far cry from traditional mounts, today's 'rogue' taxidermy skews towards the stunning, provocative, and fanciful.  Robert Marbury, author of "Taxidermy Art: A Rogue's Guide to the Work, the Culture, and How to Do It Yourself," will get us into the spooky spirit as he presents a captivating visual talk on animal preservation. Discover the world of 19th-century taxidermy through the eyes of amateur taxidermist John W. Garrett and explore the fascinating evolution of this unique art form.

A pop-up exhibit of taxidermy-related books from the Sheridan and Peabody Libraries collections will also be on view.
