Manipulating Life: The Ethics of Emerging Biotechnologies

Manipulating Life: The Ethics of Emerging Biotechnologies

Brought to you by Hopkins at Home

Join Jeffrey Kahn, PhD, MPH, Andreas C. Dracopoulos Director of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, for a two-session lecture series in which you explore the ethics of gene editing. During these live sessions, you will reflect on and discuss the ways in which science and ethics are intertwined.

The combination of reproductive and genetic testing technologies increasingly allow for parents to select traits in what they hope will be their future children.  This session will use the first case in the world of the creation of a so-called “savior sibling” to help illustrate the ethical and policy issues arising when new combinations of biotechnologies challenge existing limits.
