Arts and Archives: DIY Publishing Panel

Join us for a conversation on the art of independent publishing in Baltimore, featuring three voices shaping the city's DIY print culture: Jess Jess Press, a comic and magazine press specializing in Risograph printing with a focus on publishing marginalized authors and artists; Momo Mullings, a Baltimore-based writer, artist, organizer, and archivist whose work spans zines, performance, and publishing; and Cara Ober, founding editor and publisher of BmoreArt, a platform for creative and critical discussion and a leading resource for contemporary art and culture in Baltimore.
Set against the backdrop of the Peabody Library's historic atrium, this event puts materials from the Sheridan Libraries' archives and special collections in dialogue with the speakers, exploring how independent presses and community publishing shape and preserve artistic voices in Baltimore.
The discussion will be moderated by University Writing Program Senior Lecturer Nate Brown, coordinator of Johns Hopkins' Common Question initiative, which this year asks: "What Is Art?" It is co-sponsored by the Sheridan Libraries' Winston Tabb Special Collections Research Center and the Common Question.
