988 in Action

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a suicide prevention network with over 200 crisis centers that provide 24/7 service to anyone in emotional distress. The 988 lifeline recently replaced the 10-diget number and as of January 2023 had already handled over two million inquiries across phone, chat, and text since the switch in the summer of 2022.

Abby Wasserman, Sally Eaton, and Angela Jacobs are all mental health professionals and are directly involved in the 988 lifeline in the Westchester, New York area. Join us for a moderated conversation as we discuss the shift from the ten-digit National Suicide Prevention Hotline to the three-digit 988, goals for the lifeline, a discussion of whether 988 is meeting needs of communities, and where panelists might see 988 moving in the future.

This event will be virtual.
