Photography and Mindfulness: A Proactive Approach to Identifying and Managing Harmful Emotions

This course will assist you in identifying emotions and teach you photographic methods to capture those feelings.  Through this process of using photography, it should help you feel freer to look at your own emotions. 

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies

Current and retired full-time Johns Hopkins faculty and staff, as well as their spouses or domestic partners, are eligible for tuition remission. Eligibility details can be found here.

After registration, tuition remission eligibility will be confirmed by the Odyssey registrar. If eligibility cannot be confirmed, you will be required to pay full tuition for the course. ABOUT Steve Dembo
Adjunct Professor, School of Applied and Information Technology, Institute of Art Design and Interactive Media Community College of Baltimore County

Steven Dembo has been involved with photography on many levels for over 50 years. In 2008, Steve began teaching college level courses, while also working as a tutor, mentor, lecturer, photographer and competition judge. His photographic work has been critically acclaimed and he has garnered numerous competitive awards and accolades, having appeared in national publications, juried exhibitions. Steve is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Art, Design, and Interactive Media department at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), where he teaches each semester, both day and evening classes. He is also an Instructor for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University where he is teaching “Photography and Culture in the 20th/21st Century” and “History of Photography: Inventors & Innovators”. He is currently working with CCBC ConEd and Vet Arts Connect with the Institute for Integrative Health to extend a pilot program utilizing photography as an expressive, proactive art therapy for active military, veterans and their families into a full course. Steve earned his undergraduate, Bachelor of Science degree in international studies, from Towson University in 1979 and his Master of Fine Arts and College Teaching Art Certificate at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2013.
