JHSON Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds: What Can I Do to Improve LGBTQ+ Health in 2022?

JHSON Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds: What Can I Do to Improve LGBTQ+ Health in 2022?

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in partnership with the Nu Beta at Large Chapter of Sigma will offer a monthly Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Continuing Nursing Education Series, providing an educational program led by top researchers from around the world.

In this grand rounds, Paula Neira from the Johns Hopkins Medicine will describe the health inequities and the negative impacts of social determinants of health facing LGBTQ+ people. She will discuss the challenges and opportunities in addressing systematic and structural cisheteronormativism that exists in academic and clinical settings. Ms. Neira will also describe three actions nurses can take in clinical settings to increase the quality of care provided to transgender and gender-diverse patients

The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Series will offer attendees one free education credit upon completion of a post-event quiz after each session, with the goal of fulfilling the JHSON’s mission of providing lifelong learning for health care professionals within the community.

The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Series is sponsored by the Nu Beta at Large Chapter of Sigma, the Honor Society of Nursing. The Nu Beta Chapter was established at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1992. In 2018, the Johns Hopkins Health System joined the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing to become the first At-Large Chapter of Sigma.
