Let's Talk Taxidermy!

Evergreen Museum & Library and Robert Marbury

Get into the Halloween spirit with Robert Marbury, author of "Taxidermy Art: A Rogue's Guide to the Work, the Culture, and How to Do It Yourself," as he presents a captivating visual talk on animal preservation. Discover the world of 19th-century taxidermy through the eyes of amateur taxidermist John W. Garrett and explore the fascinating evolution of this unique art form.

Robert Marbury is a multi-disciplinary artist working with fabric, photography, and fur. Robert's colorful experiences include playing a drape in John Waters' "Cry-Baby," confronting pirates in Indonesia, and serving as an Alien Debunker for William Shatner. Dubbed one of the “stray dogs of contemporary art” and “Best Rogue” in Baltimore, he judges the world’s largest alternative taxidermy contest every fall in Brooklyn. Co-founder of the Minnesota Association of Rogue Taxidermists and author of Taxidermy Art: A Rogue’s Guide, Robert lectures globally on the relationship between humans and animals, within the context of collections.
