Join fellow alumni and friends for a fun night at the North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival. Hundreds of larger-than-life lanterns will be on display, making for an incredible, colorful, family-friendly adventure you can walk through this holiday season. The lanterns are on hand to showcase the beauty and artistry of the Chinese culture—the art of Chinese lantern making dates back more than 2,000 years, with lantern-crafting skills being passed down from one generation to the next. Today, they're popularly is used to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Each lantern at this year's festival was handcrafted and assembled by more than 25 visiting Chinese artisans and performers to our area. In all, an estimated 2,500 lanterns and more than 15,000 LED lights will make up 50 distinct displays
Your registration includes your ticket to the festival. Food and drink are available for purchase on site. The Koka Booth Amphitheatre is a cashless venue. The festival begins at 6pm but the group will meet at the main entrance at 7pm. Tickets will be emailed with the Event Remider.
A portion of this registration fee will serve as a donation in support of future programming and events. If you wish to not have a portion of your registration support such initiatives, you may contact the Office of Annual Giving: oag@jhu.edu. While participating in off-campus events and meetings sponsored by the JHAA/JHM/JHHS participants must follow all public health guidelines mandated by the local jurisdiction and venue at the time of the event. Johns Hopkins strongly suggests that attendees who join in person receive at least one dose of an FDA- or WHO-authorized COVID-19 vaccine before attending This is subject to change.
