Gabrielle Goodman is an international recording artist, vocalist, educator, composer and author who has several CDs to her credit including Jazz Life, Black Portraits, Spiritual Tapestry, Angel Eyes, Travelin’ Light, Until We Love, the latter two on the Verve label. The versatile singer has been compared to Aretha Franklin, and Ella Fitzgerald for her purity of tone and her inspired blend of jazz and R&B throughout her career. Jazz and R&B enthusiasts all over the world have praised her for the powerful vocal performances on her CDs and in concerts.
Her tours include the Montruex, North Sea, and Usaba Jazz Festivals. Over the years Goodman has worked with a who’s who of the music industry including Michael Buble, Roberta Flack, Norman Connors, George Duke, Patrice Rushen, Nancy Wilson, Terri Lyne Carrington, Christian Mcbride, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kevin Eubanks and many others. The classically trained soul singer has also worked with The Boston Pops on numerous occasions, The Baltimore, Akron, Syracuse and Yamayuri Symphony orchestras under direction of conductors Keith Lockhart, Julius Williams, Charles Floyd and in theatrical tours including Ain’t Misbehavin’, King and Forever Swing.
The versatile singer started her career touring the world as a backing vocalist with Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, Freddie Jackson, Patti Labelle and Brian Ferry to name a few. In addition to providing backing vocals for many legends, Goodman penned the smash hit, “You Can Make The Story Right” for Chaka Khan. Her compositions also appear on her own CDs, as well as other artists.
A sought-after educator, Goodman has taught at Berklee College of Music in Boston for 25 years. She has also conducted workshops in Japan, Russia, China, Trinidad, Bermuda, Hawaii and various other places throughout the world.
