Course Description: Medicine in Dispersed Settings, also known as Adventure Medicine, dives into the unique and challenging realm of medical practice beyond the conventional healthcare settings. This course is tailored for students seeking to build resilience, critical thinking, and adaptability in diverse and often unpredictable environments, ranging from wilderness expeditions to disaster-stricken areas and rural communities. With a robust focus on real-world scenarios, students will be equipped to understand and manage health situations where resources are scarce, and conventional medical help may not be immediately available. We will delve into critical communication, rapid infectious disease management, outdoor leadership, mountaineering medicine, rural health, and community-based care.
