Course Description: Are you a woman interested in learning more about investing? Would you like to learn more about asset classes, including the difference between a stock and a bond? Then Investing 101 for Women is for you! 

Over six weeks, and in a welcoming and friendly environment, we will cover all aspects of investing—asset allocation, risk tolerance, compound interest, mutual funds vs. ETFs, dividends and capital gains, and much more! Whether you are a beginner with no experience or if you have an investment portfolio already and would like to learn more about how your Advisor has built it, everyone is welcome!

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies  

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here. 

Withdrawals & Refunds: 

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.). 

100% refund- Prior to the start of the course. 

50% refund- During the first week of the course. 

No refunds will be given after the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases. 

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within (5) business days. 

ABOUT Nanci Murdock

Nanci is a financial and investing literacy advocate and coach. Since 2015, she has taught workshops (primarily to women) on asset allocation, risk tolerance, stocks vs. bonds, mutual funds and ETFs, portfolio construction, and rebalancing. She has a warm, friendly teaching style and is proud that her workshops are a safe place for women to learn about investing.


Nanci has enjoyed over 30 years in the financial industry, with past positions at Merrill Lynch and Scotia McLeod, and most recently as Head of Marketing for BCA Research, the world's largest provider of independent macroeconomic research. Since 2015, she has built a coaching business that includes one-to-one and small group workshops—both virtual and in-person.


Nanci has no affiliation, partnership, or sponsorship relationship with any financial or other organization. She is a CFA Charterholder (2001).
