Asian + American: Linking Generations via Film
Brought to you by Odyssey
Jan. 29, 2023 - March 6, 2023 (6 sessions)
Sundays, 2:00PM - 5:00PM ET
Course Description:
Students will screen Asian and American films to learn living history and culture with elders who have had Asian+American personal and professional experiences. The STEAM (science, tech, engineering, arts, math) themed films will vary according to class interests and streaming availability. Asian films with English subtitles will be used to ease foreign language immersion. There will be discussions in English tying films to participant backgrounds to enhance more exchanges between internationals and Americans.
Our interdisciplinary exploration intro to Asian American diversity aims to ease racial tensions that spiked with the Covid-19 pandemic. There are perpetual foreigner challenges struggling for the American dream beyond black-white diversity, equity and inclusion struggle.
