Course Description: Based on his award-winning book on leadership development – Cowboys & Conductors: Conversations on Horseman-Humanship – child entrepreneur turned orchestra conductor turned chief executive, Paul Jan Zdunek, takes you on a behind-the-scenes tour of how he successfully developed and deployed his non-linear life journey with tips and tools on how you can too!

Preview the course and hear from the instructor Peabody Conservatory alumnus Paul Jan Zdunek ’91 in conversation with CNN correspondent Stephanie Elam. Topics include effective leadership strategies, working in diverse teams, and his upcoming JHU Odyssey Alumni Academy course.

Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Policies  

Johns Hopkins alumni, staff, faculty and their spouse or domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission for Odyssey lifelong learning courses. Select the correct ticket pricing during registration. If we cannot confirm your eligibility, you will be requested to pay the full registration price for the course.  Eligibility details can be found here. 

Withdrawals & Refunds: 

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Registrants who wish to withdraw from an active course must complete the online Odyssey Refund Request Form. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.). 

100% refund- Prior to the start of the course. 

50% refund- During the first week of the course. 

No refunds will be given after the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases. 

Please note, refunds apply only to the tuition portion of an Odyssey participant’s charges and are not applicable to any fees or gifts made to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Registrants will be notified by email if a refund is approved within (5) business days. 

ABOUT Paul Jan Zdunek

Paul Jan Zdunek serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Miller Kaplan, a Top-100 Accounting & Business Advisory Firm in the US, as well as Partner at Tipping Point Strategists, a consulting firm focused on transforming organizations through its foundational approach of Purpose, People, and Place. 

After a decade-long career as an orchestra conductor, Paul Jan Zdunek brings over 20 years of C-Suite experience providing business leadership and advisory services for both for profit companies and charitable organizations. He has been a business transformation advisor, change management leader, and interim executive for institutions requiring financial or organizational revitalization. Paul is often engaged by organizations needing transformational services to address financial decline, organizational inefficiencies, human capital challenges, and leadership conflicts.

He has served as a Mentor-in-Residence at Johns Hopkins University and continues as a Mentor to JHU students and alums within the OneHop program. Additionally, Paul is the award-winning co-author of a book on cultivating GREY LEADERSHIP® titled Cowboys & Conductors: Conversations on Horseman-Humanship, which serves as the foundation for his executive course within the Technical Management Program at UCLA and the Odyssey Lifelong Learning Course at Johns Hopkins University.
