Optometry’s Role in Improving Population Health

Optometry’s Role in Improving Population Health

Doctors of optometry serve incredibly diverse communities around the globe and are on the front lines of primary eye care in the U.S. and abroad.  Despite the availability of optometric eye care, there is variable understanding of the value of eye care to overall health.  A lack of U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) evidence to support 'vision screening' is but one contributing factor that impacts actions targeting population health.  Join Lori Grover, OD, PhD ’12 as she discusses the important role optometrists continue to play in public health and in improving population health through advocacy and policies that promote comprehensive eye and vision care and reduce health disparities.
