According to Health Resources & Human Services (HRSA), there are approximately 106,000 people in the United States awaiting an organ donation. Of these 106,000, 17 die each day. The most common transplants are kidney, liver, heart, and lung- organs one can’t live without. Many hospitals have multiple patients waiting on a donation of the same organ, and the hospital decides who is to receive an organ when it becomes available. How is this decision made?
