Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds: Biomarker Methods for Changing Clinical Practice for Brain Injuries
The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in partnership with the Nu Beta at Large Chapter of Sigma will offer a monthly Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds Continuing Professional Development Series, providing an educational program led by top researchers from around the world.
In this November Virtual Grand Round, Dr. Jessica Gill will describe how biomarkers are used to improve the diagnosis of brain injuries. She will describe the three different purposes for biomarker studies, how biofluids are used to measure protein biomarkers, and the important considerations for biomarker measurement.
Jessica M. Gill, PhD, RN, FAAN is the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Trauma Recovery Biomarkers at the Johns Hopkins University. She is a national leader in discovering the biological mechanisms of traumatic brain injuries, and investigating the different recovery responses from veterans, athletes and other patients who experience traumatic brain injuries. At Johns Hopkins, she holds joint appointments at the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology. Previously, she worked at the National Institutes of Health as a senior investigator and acting deputy scientific director of the National Institute of Nursing Research and deputy director of the Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine.
The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds NCPD Series will offer attendee one NCPD credit upon completion of each session, with the goal of fulfilling the JHSON's mission of providing lifelong learning for health care professionals within the community.
The Virtual Nursing Grand Rounds CNE Series is sponsored by the Nu Beta at Large Chapter of Sigma, the Honor Society of Nursing. The Nu Beta Chapter was established at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1992. In 2018, the Johns Hopkins Health System joined the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing to become the first At-Large Chapter of Sigma.
