Join us for a candid, wide-ranging conversation with two seasoned OBGYNs. The speakers will tackle misinformation and myths surrounding contraception, fertility, reproductive rights, peri/menopause, aging and will share how women can advocate for themselves to receive the best possible healthcare. All JHU alums and friends are welcome.
Afternoon Session | Know your Heart: Women’s Cardiac Health in Focus
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, yet it’s rarely the center of women’s health conversations. Join us for a dynamic panel discussion with expert medical professionals as we uncover the facts, debunk myths, and share empowering practical steps every woman can take to understand and improve her cardiovascular health. All JHU alums and friends are welcome.

Alums and friends will have the opportunity to network with fellow attendees over a wholesome and delicious selection of breakfast and lunch items in the morning and afternoon before each session begins!

Dr. Howard is the Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology and Vice Chair in the Weill Cornell Medicine Dept of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She has served in leadership roles in academic, private and international settings. She received her MD, MPH from Johns Hopkins, completed residency at UPMC-Magee Women's hospital and fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Howard is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a Certified Physician Executive, and a Fellow of the American Association for Physician Leadership. She is also a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and is on the Board of Directors for the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons.
Since joining the enterprise in 2022, Dr. Howard has sought opportunities to leverage technology and innovation to deliver equitable care and to improve operational efficiency.
Dr Creatura is the founder of her practice of Gynecology, Menopause, and Sexual Medicine in Manhattan. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a North American Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner. She is the first full-time NYC-based gynecologist to receive fellowship designation in Female Sexual Medicine from the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health.
Dr. Creatura graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College and received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1986. She returned to New York for her residency training at The New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill-Cornell Medical Center where she is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She serves on the Board of Directors at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, the Advocacy Committee of ISSWSH, and is a volunteer sexuality educator and reproductive rights advocate.
Dr. Mohanraj is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Education, the Associate Program Director for the Mount Sinai Morningside-West Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship, and the Department of Medicine Vice Chair for Strategic Community Engagement. Dr. Mohanraj graduated from The University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at the University of Chicago Hospital and the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. She completed her Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Mohanraj's academic interests focus on novel curriculum development, physician trainee well-being, equity and inclusion, and bioethics education. Dr. Mohanraj is recognized nationally for teaching excellence, leadership, and innovative curricula design. She is nationally recognized for scholarship in trainee well-being, the use of Narrative Medicine practices to humanize the ICU, and a novel hybrid program to develop the next generation of Clinician Educators. Recent honors include the 2024 APCCMPD Award for Novel Fellowship Education Implementation, the Dr. Nathan Kase Innovations in Medical Education Award, and the Physicians Foundation 2024 Medical Innovator award. Dr. Mohanraj leads initiatives to ensure equitable fellowship recruitment and to develop local partnerships that bridge the gap between hospital and community.
Dr. Erin Spaulding is an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing; Associate Faculty in the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; and Director of the Long-term Wearable Study Core in the ARIC Neurocognitive Study (ARIC NCS). She is also a co-investigator in the Center for Mobile Technologies to Achieve Equity in Cardiovascular Health within the American Heart Association Strategically Focused Health Technologies and Innovation Research Network. Dr. Spaulding obtained her PhD at Johns Hopkins University after receiving her BSN from the University of New Hampshire and working as an intensive care unit nurse at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Cardiovascular Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Spaulding’s research is focused on leveraging digital health interventions for cardiovascular disease prevention and management as well as promoting digital access, digital literacy, and digital health use among older adults. In her role as Director of the Long-term Wearable Study Core in ARIC NCS, a major initiative in cardiovascular and aging research, she is leveraging digital devices for continuous, long-term data collection among the oldest old (80+ years). With her specialized knowledge on how to promote digital health use among the oldest old, Dr. Spaulding is striving to improve digital and health equity for the millions of older adults with chronic conditions.
Dr. Shireen Khoury is a board-certified physician specializing in Vascular Medicine and Preventive Cardiology. She completed her fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and is currently a member of the Johns Hopkins Digital Health and Innovation Lab, where her focus is on clinical trials to improve the implementation of cardiovascular care in high-risk populations. Dr. Khoury has a special interest in human-centered design methods; she partners with patients in the community to develop digital strategies for cardiovascular disease prevention and recovery. She has authored peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and patient education tools, and recently co-authored the American Heart Association (AHA) National Action Plan for peripheral artery disease. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Khoury served as the clinical lead of the Ohio Cardiovascular Health Collaborative (Cardi-OH).
Dr. Khoury volunteers in a humanitarian capacity with medical teams abroad, training in-country clinical staff on vascular diagnosis & care in resource-limited settings. Recent honors include being selected as a Scholar of the National Lipid Association (NLA), and as a peer-nominated Baltimore Top Doctor for the second year. Dr. Khoury holds a BS from Duke University, an MD from the George Washington University School of Medicine, and an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
