Dr. Janice Hutchinson is a board-certified Pediatrician and Adult and Child Psychiatrist. She attended Stanford University and University of Cincinnati Medical School. International medical practice includes missions to Liberia, Thailand and Haiti. Her work has focused on all forms of child abuse, including sex trafficking, HIV and AIDS education and prevention, mental illness in children and minorities, neuropsychiatric substrates of mental illness, juvenile forensics and health in special populations e.g. minorities, women, and low-income population. She has also authored and lectured on the subject of youth in the Juvenile Justice System. She is the author of several articles and chapters and is a co-author of the book: “Losing Control: Raising a Bipolar Black Child.” The newest chapter, The Impact of Climate on Mental Health, is pending publication July, 2024 in a new book, Climate and Health,. Dr. Hutchinson has consulted to the military regarding PTSD, TBI and other issues. She is currently the chairperson of the Washington Psychiatric Society “Psychiatrists in Society”, which addresses issues of climate change, structural racism and other biopsychosocial elements that affect psychiatric medical health.
