Course Description: Discover the evolution of libraries and museums, from their earliest forms in the ancient and medieval worlds to their flourishing during the Renaissance and Enlightenment. This course examines how these institutions have preserved knowledge and shaped culture across centuries, drawing directly from Johns Hopkins University’s renowned rare book and manuscript collections. Students will explore treasures from the archives while considering how libraries and museums continue to serve as vital spaces for learning, memory, and community.

If a course is canceled or closed, the registrant is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Attach any documentation to support your request (e.g., medical documentation, family crisis documentation, etc.).
100% refund: Prior to the start of the course and after the first class.
No refunds: After the first week of each course unless in exceptional cases.
