We will meet at Miller Park Boat Launch (next to Nick’s Cove Restaurant and Cottages).  After organizing gear, reviewing basic kayaking instructions and safety procedures, we'll launch our boats and paddle across the bay to the Point Reyes National Seashore.  As we kayak along the shoreline we will discover the myriad and diverse animals which inhabit the Bay and its shores. In addition to the Tule Elk, it is common to see harbor seals, bat-rays, leopard sharks, osprey, river otters, and sea lions. The area around Hog Island is also rich in wildlife and scenic beauty.  All guided tours are in tandem closed deck sea kayaks. The double kayaks track well, are difficult to capsize, and are easy to maneuver. All the necessary gear such as life jackets, paddles, and spray skirts is provided. We'll go rain or shine. Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour starts.Come prepared for variable weather. Mornings are often cool/foggy, typically warming up by late morning/early afternoon. We recommend dressing in layers. Bring clothes that reflect your degree of sensitivity to heat and cold.Before registering, please look at the Frequently Asked Questions section of the Blue Waters Kayaking website. We'll gather at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures which is the largest museum in the United States devoted to the arts, sciences, and artists of moviemaking. Global in outlook and grounded in the unparalleled collections and expertise of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Museum offers exceptional exhibitions and programs that illuminate the world of cinema. In partucular, we'll be able to enjoy John Waters: Pope of Trash which is the first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the Baltimore artist’s contributions to cinema. The exhibition delves into his filmmaking process, key themes, and unmatched style. Works on view include costumes, set decoration, props, handwritten scripts, posters, concept designs, correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, film clips, and more.After you explore the museum, we'll enjoy a reception at Fanny's Cafe & Restaurant (1pm - 3pm) with light bites and drinks. The Baltimore Hunger Project is dedicated to eliminating the growing problem of weekend childhood hunger by feeding bodies and minds. They are bridging the gap between Friday and Monday by consistently providing weekend food packages to children identified as food insecure, in a compassionate and dignified manner. Please wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. The food packaged will be delivered the next day by BHP volunteers to local elementary schools. There, school guidance counselors will discreetly place the packages in children’s backpacks so those students can return to school Monday fully nourished and ready to learn.Due to the nature of the work that they do, no one under the age of 14 is allowed in the warehouse.
